SUPPOrT US

Volunteer

Volunteers are used for all administrative and labor tasks needed for the efficient operation of our food pantry. Our administrative volunteers determine household eligibility by obtaining personal identity and financial information from the citizens we serve, applying income standards set by the State. Our labor volunteers help unload food delivery truck shipments, stock shelves, prepare food boxes, and deliver them to our members' vehicles during our hours of operations. With the weekend backpack program, food and informational flyers are packed by volunteers, and stored in a secure area until distribution. Our food pantry will deliver the bags to Okolona Elementary School weekly when school is in session. Meals are packed for children in plastic bags. School officials will discreetly insert the bags into children’s backpacks before the weekend or holiday break. Dependent upon availability, pencils, school supplies and small toys will be also distributed in the take-home bags.
